-1- ELECTRICAL EXPERIMENTAL LABORATORY. Test Report No. Re/IG.32. 28/10/36. Object. Inspection of Ignition Components on 6B IV Conclusions. The Delco-Remy Distributor will be satisfactory provided the small points mentioned in the report are cleared up. The Johnson and Phillips H.T. chassis cable is good quality and could be standardised. ********** Test Procedure and Results. The governor was slightly sluggish in coming back to starting position; this was found due to the small pads, which carry the governor weights being dry. Application of a spot of oil, proved a remedy, otherwise the governor was in good condition. The spring loaded screw, which acts as a stop for the hand advance, was very loose. It is difficult to tighten the screw owing to inaccessibility of a screw-driver. This would be better if a hexagon head screw was used instead of the cheese head screw. Distributor head, H.T. rotor and ignition table were in satisfactory condition. Considering the manner in which they had been fitted in France, the points being badly out of alignment, the condition of the contact points and levers was satisfactory. Special note is made of the excellent condition of the Johnson and Phillips H.T cable, there is not the slightest sign of distress anywhere. The coil which broke down in France, had failed through the copper connection, which comes from the primary winding to the terminals, breaking and causing open-circuit. | ||
