This breakage was caused by the terminal plate being insecurely fastened. There are visible signs of vibration taking place, by the hammer marks made by terminal screws on the top cover of coil. It appears that the brass centre tube of the coil is too long, because the terminal plate fouls the tube before it has made contact with the sides of the coil, when tightened to the utmost. This is not according to the drawing arrangement. The spare coil which was used to replace the above coil, was in a satisfactory condition. The Rose Courtney terminal and identification sleeve on No. 6, were missing.
