X.3633 To HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}2/M16.7.24. SPARE WHEEL CARRIER - 40/50 X.3633. Referring to your memo. HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}6/LG18.6.24., re. the 40/50 spare wheel carrier on 46-PK, are we right in presuming that this carrier was made to our design N.sch.1409 or N.sch.1433., and not the design originally made by Derby, consisting of an adapted Goshawk carrier? In our case the cone of the wheel pointed outwards. The carrier on 6-EX. which we have here is of the Goshawk type modified at Derby, and we notice that the flange on the side channel is milled away very thin where the bolts are, and certainly looks as though it would break. In our design we have bosses about 3/8" deep. We would be glad to have this detail information as we are shortly designing a wheel carrier for EAC.11.
