With reference to your H17/HK{Col. T. Harker - Sales}31.8.34 and H5/H30.8.34. This customer called at the Works on Saturday morning, and Md. and myself were able to interview him as requested, and found him a most enthusiastic owner.

Having taken delivery of the car at the end of May he had taken it straight to Canada and had done 9,000 miles of real hard running.

The car has given entire satisfaction to himself and has caused a favourable impression with all the various important motor people in that country with whom he is in contact.

He was a previous Bentley owner, and was full of praise of the advantages of this car over the previous 3 litre type.

He was rather reticent in making any criticism, but eventually mentioned a few points which are already having the Experimental Department's attention, such as clutch dither and change gear lever rattle; also the body cracking up, which he is taking up with the coachbuilders (Park Ward standard Saloon). Will Ev{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} follow up?

One important feature is that the badge on the radiator came adrift while cleaning, and scratched the radiator.

We arranged with him to leave the car in our hands, which he was prepared to do for the week, as we are anxious to carry out the necessary modifications.

His only request was that we should just look over the car and give it a 'decarb.' As the engine has to be dismantled for the purpose of dealing with the valves as one of the modifications we certainly feel it is a case where we should carry out the 'decarb.' free of charge.
