42764 PRIVATE. c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} re. 40/50. VALVE STEMS AND GUIDES. With further reference to your BJ6/H25.4.24. and our reply EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}12/H30.4.24, we attach copy of report we have today sent through to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} which we trust is what you require. At this stage it is most difficult to get the Experimental and Design Departments to give attention to these matters, they being entirely occupied with what is considered to be more important work. Their natural sympathy is not so much to make an alteration to the existing car as to produce a better one, and it is difficult for them to appreciate that we still have to go on producing our present 40/50 car, possibly for some long time yet, and which I personally feel should be at least as modern and satisfactory as the Springfield made car, hence the two points raised in the attached memo. This is a feature which after discussing with Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} we know he is keen on taking up whenever the opportunity presents itself. MADE AT CROXLEY EP.{G.
