Dear Sir,

MOUNTINGS - 40 mm. GUN.

Tests were carried out on the pedestal type mounting, by the Admiralty yesterday. They criticized the horizontal training stop. This was not sufficiently rigid.

On looking into the matter, we found that the detail of the stop did not correspond with our design, and this appears to us to be the cause of the criticism.

While we are anxious to co-operate with you and take advantage of your experience, we feel that in the future no departure should be made from our designs until such modifications have been submitted to us for our approval.

Yours faithfully,

for ROLLS ROYCE LTD.,
