BY4/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 28.9.25.

STEERING COLUMN AND BOX.

Referring to BY/HEB{H. Biraben}8/M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} 1.9.25. and BY/HEB{H. Biraben}7/M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} 5.9.25. giving particulars of the new parts put into production at CJ's and R's request, with the object of modifying the steering column, would you kindly give me an estimate as to when it is probable the first of the new steering columns will become available and a sufficient supply following up to justify same being put on chassis.

The matter is an important one as apparently now West WitteringHenry Royce's home town are in agreement with Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} that the best scheme is not to introduce the intermediate change which was proposed of using the present pitch diameter and altering its pitch to .940 from 1.125 on both the worm and the nut, but to go direct to the entirely new scheme outlined in the memos quoted above.

This scheme is being put on the 10,000 mile trial car and it is anticipated that the trials will be completed within a month. We want to know whether steering columns will be available made up with the new parts when this 10,000 miles trial is completed. If the steering gear will be ready before that time, so much the better.

Please let us have this information as soon as possible as it is to be passed on to West WitteringHenry Royce's home town.
