1) REPAIR SHOP.

Reference Minute 1. of 10/6/20, Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} and Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} brought up a revised plan for the new Repair Shop. It is thought that in order to get out of the Repair difficulty it would be better to build a new repair shop in the Works, rather than purchase an existing building near London, as was originally proposed at one of the conferences at the Midland Hotel.

One of the features of the plan of this new shop is to reduce transport as much as possible and also to have better control of the parts passing through the Shop, which would tend to economy and quicker production.

The Shop would be of a sufficient capacity to give an output of about 10 overhauls per week, in addition to the output of the present shops, which is about 8. This capacity should enable us to absorb the waiting list and carry on for two years, as a rough estimate.

A rough estimate of the cost of the building, with all its equipment, would not exceed between £60,000 and £65,000 based on current prices.

The Conference were of the opinion that this proposition ought to be placed before the Board as soon as possible, but before any action is taken that Mr. Haldenby will put the plans in front of Mr.Royce, in order to get his approval.
