Enclosure Dear Sirs, New British-made Berk-shire Hydraulic Shock Absorber. With further reference to the visit of your Representative from Chichester on Tuesday, and in confirmation of our Telephonic conversation of this morning, our Works Dept., is sending you per Passenger Train to-day at the earliest possible moment, two pairs of the new Absorbers for test on one of your new 40-50 h.p. Phantom Models. Front: The front pair have 6" lever arms cranked 1", and our ball stud will pick up your existing connecting rod complete. We have made a special plate, which on the back end will pick up the bolt hole for the existing fitting, and the forward end secured by the two bolts holding the radiator bracket. The Berk-shire will then be mounted on this, the front lug being secured to it by means of a countersunk bolt, the rear end having an ordinary bolt the head of which will have plenty of clearance in the large hole existing in the chassis. We had this morning, prior to your telephonic conversation, just completed the enclosed Blue Prints and were just in the act of posting you paper templates for this front bracket, also for the rear bracket for your approval We are, however, to-day rapidly producing a pair of each and if they should be rather rough, you will appreciate this is solely due to the very short time at our disposal in getting these Brackets made. It is unnecessary for us to point out to you that the fitting methods we suggest are got out to suit the present Chassis frame, but without doubt, if your testing should be so satisfactory that you decide to standardise the Berk-shire, Hydraulic | ||
