c. ROY{Sir Henry Royce} (crossed out) c. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} X1023 Will the Order Office kindly cover this instruction by an order, booking it against an experimental order number. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} 8th. October 1936. F.T. HARDY (signature) Any comments? (handwritten) Pim (signature) BY.S/G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} Messrs. Wilmot Breeden Limited, Eastern Works, Camden Street, BIRMINGHAM.1. Dear Sirs, Stabilising Bumpers - Bentley Type. Referring to your letter of October 7th. I have examined the two designs and prefer Design 2 with the rubber between the two lead masses. My reason for making this selection is that if the rubber is at the bottom there is more opportunity for the lead to float about at the bottom end than when the rubber is between the blocks as in the latter case, each lead mass is stabilised by being held to a fixed member, the upper one at its upper end to the cap and the lower one at its lower end to the large washer seated on the spring. Would you therefore kindly go ahead and let us have a sample bumper for test purposes. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. By (signature) TECHNICAL PRODUCTION ENGINEER. | ||
