UNIVERSITY OF GLASGOW 3. in making the above suggestion. Referring briefly to Mr Swindalls' letter, I note with surprise that you have tried two standard systems on the one manifold. I told you at the first interview that your system was too small for the engine but you would not hear of increasing the size or weight. I also told you that your exhaust valve was closing too early, but you declined to make it later because of the tick over, and now you try a later closing & find increase in power & hand this up to me as a piece of news and ask if I can explain it ! At the risk of becoming thoroughly unpopular with you I must tell you that I find the lack of confidence you have placed in me to be not only very annoying but to be a complete hindrance to the work. How do you suppose I can design anything if the conditions to be met are not properly specified? The real difficulty in designing an exhaust system lies in getting the system to fit the chassis & to be efficient | ||
