1282 To By. {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} c. to Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to Lr. {Mr Ellor} c. to Rm. {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Wd. {Mr Wood / Mr Whitehead} 11/GB.30.10.36. AERO NAPET FUEL. With reference to the requests in By./Cgh. {W Clough} 8/W.1.9.36 and By./Cgh. {W Clough} 1/W.24.9.36, to examine the above fuel for its suitability as a car fuel, it is at least 30 m.e.p. down on a standard ethyl car fuel, for equal detonation 15 m.e.p. inferior to Shell and its distillation range is such that we should expect it to be inferior to standard petrols for starting and slow running. The gum content compares favourably with standard petrols. This particular coal spirit is inferior to other proprietary coal spirits in knock rating and distillation range. We do not consider the fuel suitable for R.R. cars. ------- Wd. {Mr Wood / Mr Whitehead} | ||
