Dismantling a water pump to repack a worn gland and replace a stretched fabric coupling.

The gland had badly worn, resulting in a serious loss of water. It seems that the wear in the gland is due to the fabric coupling having stretched to an oval shape, and consequently, tending to pull the impellor shaft out of line. ---------------- GWH{George W.
