- 2 - (9) The failure of the S.U. pump is being taken up with the S.U. Co. (10) The failure of the main oil pipe is partly attributed to the fact that it was fitted approximately midway along its length with a thermometer bottle, the weight of which would increase the vibration. We are however, looking into the question of steadying it with a clip, and of using steel instead of copper pipe. (11) The second Bensport is fitted with the 6/8 balance weight scheme instead of the Chrysler, as fitted to No.1. chassis, which should be an improvement with regard to this point. Also the friction loading on the crankshaft damper can be reduced from 17/20 lbs to 14 and less, which should reduce the wear on the cotton friction discs. (12) Bensport No.1. valve springs are the old type now superseded, and we have recently issued some double springs of high rating and high periodicity based on our latest practice. (13) This point is covered by the comment under No.10. (14) No.2. Bensport is fitted with a lighter contact break lever, which should be an improvement. we are looking into the question for the improving the form of the cam and rubbing block. (15) This point has been dealt with on No.2. Bensport, the road clearance under the brake gear having been increased by 1". (16) Harder braking material is being tried to reduce the brake wear and the advisability of reducing the leverage to some extent is also being considered. (17) The second gear coming out of mesh is covered by the improved scheme. (18) An improved scheme is in hand to increase the lateral pivot lean on the axle. it may not be possible to include this on the first 200 chassis, but without it the car is considered to reach a very good standard as regards steering. (19) The leaks mentioned in connection with the hydraulic dampers are being investigated. | ||
