For the attention of Mr. Leslie Kent.

Dear Sirs,

I have despatched to you to-day the two magnet pots complete from the Ex.1 pump you sent us. I regret I have been unable to send them before but they were fitted on a car which has been away on test. I hope it will be a simple matter to have the loading reduced so that it will speed up the delivery of the EX pump with the flat base mounting.

You will notice definite signs of shrinkage in the diaphragms, one of them being loose on the spindle.

This pump did a certain amount of work in a heated chamber, pumping hot petrol, and also a little water accidentally got into it. Recently it has been fitted in the dashboard of a car and trouble was experienced with it sticking, no doubt due to the shrunk diaphragms.

I am carrying out further tests in a heated chamber on the ability of the pump to deal with air or vapour in relation to temperature, and will let you have my conclusions.

I shall be interested to hear how you are progressing with the buffer for silencing pumps.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED
