-3- REAR. These dampers had been readjusted during the tests and we found that the valve caps had been interchanged. Since the high and low pressure caps are the same Piece No. the loads were checked as delivered to us. NEAR SIDE The loads were found to be :- Low pressure 77 lb. High " 80 lb. The main shaft and bearings were in excellent condition, there being no play between them. The 1" diameter bearing was a perfect fit to a standard limit gauge, and the .750" diameter bearing just took the "not go" (.75025") of a limit gauge. The shaft diameters were .9975" and .74925" respectively. The links were in good condition, the bore of the intermediate lever felt to be slightly bell-mouthed, but there was no end play, and side play measured .003". The eye bolt end of the link was O.K. The side clearance at this end being .004". The piston and cylinder were in good condition, the maximum wear on the piston being .00075" (at one point only) and the total wear on cylinder did not exceed the "not go" of a limit gauge (+ .0005). | ||
