Top paragraph (Original document):
We are definitely against delivering chassis with the rods in question detached and tied to one of the cross members, but if Sales still wish that this should be done, we would of course arrange to do so on their instructions.

Bottom paragraph (Mirrored bleed-through from another document):
With reference to Sales MS/ss.{S. Smith}IS.sa. the reply given in our previous memo was made full consideration of the matter along with MX.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} and ET.
In the first place, it is necessary to disconnect one rod then certainly it seems to us necessary to detach both rods.
Secondly, we do not consider it advisable to deliver chassis with these rods detached, and although arrangements could possibly be made for them to be connected up before the complete car is tested, at such coachbuilders as Hoopers, Park Ward and Windover we do not think it can be so easily arranged in regard to chassis delivered to provincial coachbuilders and the chassis abroad.
Over.
