With reference to Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}12/M.29.12.26. the reply given in our previous memo was made after full consideration of the matter along with Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} and EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} In the first place, if it is necessary to disconnect one rod, then certainly it seems to us necessary to detach both rods. Secondly, we do not consider it advisable to deliver cars to Coachbuilders with these rods detached, and although arrangements could possibly be made for them to be connected up before the complete car is tested, at such Coachbuilders as Barkers, Hoopers and Windovers, we do not think it can be so easily arranged in regard to chassis delivered to provincial coachbuilders and coachbuilders abroad.
