BACKING LIGHT SWITCH FOR L.H. S.S.
-----------------------------

Herewith is N. Sch. 3066 showing how we suggest this switch should be arranged on the L.H. gearbox.

The tendency for the switch to push the gear out of mesh, which exists on the R.H. scheme, is rather more on this one, because of the loss of the 2 to 1 leverage. We do not think it is of any importance, but if necessary the spring in the reverse plunger could be slightly i increased, at present the plunger springs hold the gears in with a force of 9 lbs. and the switch will push with 1 ½ lbs.

With reference to the adaptation of the switch to suit the new rubber suspension on the R.H. car, a scheme will follow in a day or so. It is not intended to alter the switch or the gearbox casing, but to modify the new suspension.
