WRAITH & PHANTOM III. SYNCHRO-MESH UNITS.

The operating cams in the above Synchro-mesh units are at present guided in the sliding member by means of a pin (GW.149 & G.54883) and in the outer member by means of a series of ground flats.

It is thought that the mechanism would operate satisfactorily if the pin and flats were eliminated, and a plain circular cam as shown in Fig.I. were used in its place. This would effect a saving in machining of approximately 2/- per unit, or 8/- per chassis.

The 'Vee' slot in the outer member would be altered in form, but this could be introduced without serious tool charges.

We therefore suggest that a design be prepared along these lines and a set of parts tested with a view to standardising this scheme.
