(1) Bonnet Complaints.

(a) Complaints of hinge rods of panel working forward.
(b) Squeaking and wearing out of fabric rests.
(c) Re-fitting of panels.

There have been 49 of these complaints during the last quarter. The hinge rod working out has been taken up by the D.O.

We are taking the squeaking and wearing out of the fabric with the suppliers to see whether a more suitable material can be supplied.

With regard to refitting the panels, an investigation is to be made into the reason why it is necessary, as the bonnets are correctly fitted when the chassis leave the Works.

(2) Brakes Inefficient.

Servos re-lined. Brakes rubbing rear actuating shaft, binding through lack of oil.

Brakes squeak. The complaints are numerous, but every point is being watched to reduce the complaints. A scheme has been got out to lubricate the rear actuating brake shaft bearing and is being tried out on the 30 HP. car running in France. A guard has been designed to prevent oil draining down the outside of the front brakes and entering drums. This has been put into production.

Oil leaks from the bottom pivot joint should be considerably less on the 25/30 HP. with the stronger flange. Brakes squeaking are due to the liners becoming polished with frequent light application, also with over-heating after heavy use. Incorrect bedding is another source of squeaks.
