With reference to the front end of the rear spring (Blue Print F.4119) of the two fittings I think the one like the present one will be found to be the more practical.

[Handwritten in margin: Please confirm {] The U section one shown on F.{Mr Friese} 4118 is a difficult drop forging to make, and not very easy to machine.

The inside faces would have to be done with a bar and loose cutter.

The bolting also is scarcely a practical job.

I have therefore chosen the other one shown on Blue Print F4119. This seems all straight forward machining, and specially in the modified design, which I submit.

[Handwritten in margin: to be thoroughly practical] The bolting proposition is a much more difficult one than it would at first sight appear, and you will notice how we have suggested it should be arranged.

The drop forging forming the pin shall have a rectangular base of somewhat similar proportions to the [handwritten insertion: front] cross member flange.

This will give very convenient bolting, with the exception of one hole. This we propose shall be done as follows:-

A small forging about .150" thick is rivetted to the inside of the frame, before the cross members are put together.

This plate is thickened by a boss cut out 4" deep in the centre which is tapped to receive a 3/8 stud, which is screwed into it by a square on the part of the stud just outside the
