4. drop in power of about 20% seems excessive and unnecessary. There are so many points requiring discussion before your firm could decide whether it was profitable for them to embark on this research that I am sure the best thing would be to ask me to call and talk the matter over. I am quite willing to make a trip to Derby, at my own expense and without putting the firm under any obligation, in order to discuss the problem in detail. I can get leave from the University any time from now till the second week in September when I must return for the autumn exams. If anything is to be done it would require to be started fairly soon.
