To DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} EXPERIMENTAL DESIGNS. Replying to DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}2/M7.5.27. PHANTOM. (1) Framed Instruments. The latest scheme of framed instruments with silvered dials is being fitted to EAC.7. We have now been able to obtain satisfactory silvered dials for all instruments. (2) Dipping Head Lamps. We have had dipping head lights on several cars - 7-EX, 10-EX and 20 HP. You will remember that these were sent to London for Sales to examine and they objected to the appearance of the scheme owing to the spring being visible. Another point which has held up this job is the fact that we have asked for a proved design of lamp. Messrs. Lucas were here the other day and they have produced a much better looking lamp. We have arranged that these lamps will be supplied with fittings suitable for the RR. dipping scheme. We consider the RR. scheme is infinitely superior to the Barker and if you consider we could get it used, we will send round a standardisation sheet. (3) Rear Wheel and Luggage Carrier. A standardisation sheet for this has been sent round. It has been signed by all officials except BJ. and LHS.{Lord Herbert Scott} (4) Sheet metal Wing Stays. A standardisation sheet for this has been sent round and agreed to by all officials. (5) Improved Controls on Instrument Board. A standardisation sheet for this has been sent round. (6) Subframe. This will be fitted to EAC.7. contd :- | ||
