Dear Mr. Robotham,

Replying to your letter of the 17th instant, I was not aware that you experienced any trouble with the wheels or hubs on the Bentley car in the Ulster Race, although I did observe the pit stops were on the long side.

You no doubt know that the earlier Bentley racing cars were fitted with wheels of a similar design but different sizes, and I do not recall any seizures. The thread and serration clearances on those wheels would, however, be greater than we now supply to you as your Inspection Department insisted at the outset on closer clearances than our normal practice, and this may have a considerable bearing upon your difficulty. If the seized parts are in your possession I should be glad if you will send them over some time for me to examine.

I have known trouble in withdrawing a wheel to be due to indentation of the flanks of the serrations, the overlapping portion thus forming a series of hooks, but from the drawing this should not be possible on your wheels. We have also had cases
