Dear Sirs, We are obliged by the receipt of your letter of the 7th inst, enclosing a copy of your previous letter, and we are quite confident that we can supply you with these Model 354 Ammeters that will withstand a momentary overload up to 60 Amps. without their accuracy being affected. From your letter it would appear that the sample we sent you has friction as there should be no tendency whatever for the movement to stick in any part of the scale. Upon a charge or discharge reading there is sometimes a tendency for the pointer not to return absolutely to zero, but this residual deflection will not affect the accuracy in any respect. However, if you have found that that is a serious disadvantage we would see that any instruments supplied to you were free in that respect. We regret that at the moment we have not another instrument completed exactly as the sample we sent you, but we shall be pleased to forward you a similar movement in a slightly different case, or indeed to send you several of these so that you may give them all a thorough test, as we are quite confident that they should meet your most strenuous conditions.
