Shane R.{Sir Henry Royce} Chichester, Esq., The Rough, Tilford, Farnham, SURREY. Dear Mr. Chichester, Many thanks for your letter of the 17th inst. Handwritten left margin: ConSult St J?? I was up in town for a day about a fortnight ago and I called in at Pall Mall on the off chance of seeing you there. They told me you were very rarely there. I also asked for Captain Burt but he was away also. I am pleased to say that sales are going with a boom. As no doubt you are aware the India Company was the first Company in the world to put on a super range of tyres. It is therefore pleasing to note Dunlops have announced a dearer tyre than their standard namely, the Fort Dunlop which they are selling at 20% higher prices than those of their standard tyres. Goodyear in America have also announced a higher grade tyre which they are calling the "Double Eagle" and which we understand they will sell at about 20/40% higher prices than the standard Goodyear. When we were buying Indias from America in the super range of sizes they were costing us 20% higher prices than the prices at which we could have bought other makes. Over in this country we only charged 10% higher prices because we did not consider that the public would stand for 20% higher prices until they were educated up to the undoubtedly better value of the super type. Our experience of Indias leaves no possible doubt that it is a better tyre than any other make today. Now/ | ||
