Dictated 4.12.34. re CHASSIS NO. B.105-AE. J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} LUMB. We hand you herewith a piston and connecting rod removed from No. 6 cylinder on the above car. This is the second time that a piston seizure has been experienced on this car and we think there must be some obvious explanation of this. The piston looks as though the seizure has been due to poor lubrication following on over-revving of the engine combined with over-liberal use of the mixture control immediately after starting up, but we shall be very glad to have your views on the matter. Hd{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy}/SB.{Mr Bull/Mr Bannister} SB{Mr Bull/Mr Bannister} P.S. In the event of you agreeing that this further seizure is the result of mis-use, we shall be glad to have your opinion as to whether we should bear all the expense of the necessary repairs, bearing in mind the fact that since one cylinder is scored it means re-boring and fitting six new pistons. | ||
