To Rj. from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. to BJ. RG.{Mr Rowledge} c. to C.✓ SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} ORIGINAL. Hsl/LG24.10.28. PROGRESS OF CAR IMPROVEMENTS. X2917 X5770 ~~X7770~~ We are sorry to hear you are disappointed with the progress of car improvements. All the parts which the Expl: Dept: have received instructions for are in progress and no effort is being spared to get both the 'SS{S. Smith}' and the new 20 HP. chassis with turbulent head, completed. We think it should be taken into account when criticising the delay on certain experimental work, that we have during the past 9 months produced experimentally and developed the 'H' engine, new 20 HP. chassis 12.G.4., the SS.{S. Smith} engine unit and gearbox, central lubrication for the Phantom (2 schemes) and numerous superchargers etc.etc. It should also be appreciated that the F.{Mr Friese} engine is now established in 4 different types - high and low comp: and moderate and full supercharger. We are sure that no delay can be attributed to working to unauthorised instructions. All the instructions for Expl: work come ~~them~~ through BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} The only work which is carried on which is not authorised is - altering proportions of different parts in carbs., and induction pipes. The whole of this work does not amount to 2% of the total volume of expl: work. We propose visiting WW: next week and would like to discuss this matter with you. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
