X3700 Benton & Stone LIMITED ESTABLISHED 1814 [LOGO] ENOTS REGISTERED OUR REF. CEM/HML. YOUR REF. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}5/LG. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., DERBY. 30th. August 1928. Dear Sirs, Improved Petrol Filter. We beg to acknowledge receipt of your kind letter of the 27th inst., with reference to your further tests on the above. We are sending you under separate cover 3 filters for further test and these embody certain modifications from the last sample, viz. the filtering discs are made in duralumin which considerably lightens the article. Furthermore, we have reduced the breadth of the spacing washers by slightly over 25%. We have not, however, increased the depth of the spacing bars as we cannot trace any restrictions and we believe you will find that same are absolutely efficient. Anyway, we think it better that you test them in their present condition rather than re-cut the tools to produce a deeper bar. Should you consider that it is advisable to deepen these bars we will at once re-cut the tools and send you new filtering elements on hearing from you.
