| S/W Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 11X43 C1/C15.11.35 Re Chassis No. B.189.AE..A.H.R.Fedden. --------------------------------------- The following is extract from letter received from Mr.Fedden of the Bristol Aeroplane Co:- "It may interest you to know that I have now done 27,800 miles on this car, and last September I took it on the Continent for my holiday and did a total of 2,800 miles, including some very bad roads and hills in Styria and Corinthia in Southern Austria. The car behaved, on the whole, very well.. One trouble I struck in Austria, viz. clutch slip, which on investigation I found to be due to the pedal touching the sloping footboard ramp; I adjusted it carefully, but after a further 1,000 miles the same thing occurred. I made another adjustment, and since my return I have had a recurrence and have made a further adjustment. Everything is all right in the clutch at the present moment, but it rather looks as if wear is taking place. I shall be glad to know if you have experienced anything of a similar nature on this type, and what you recommend. I am very busy at the present time and using the car a great deal, and it will be impossible to spare it before Christmas, but I should like to have your advice in regard to the clutch." In regard to the clutch, as you know him very well I think perhaps the best way would be for you to write and give him some advice. I do not know whether you will consider this a case of a certain amount of misuse, or not. C. [Handwritten text] Axle ratio. Clutch. Cost of new flywheel & clutch. ?.
