Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} X7005 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/AD30.12.31. There is a difficulty which has arisen on diamond engine mounted cars. The brake ropes foul the big cross member in the normal running position and progressively more as the car approaches the maximum bump. The attached sketch will show you the difficulty. We think the big cross member is perhaps down swept to an unnecessary extent, whereas the brake camshaft seems to have lifted more than it need as it is 1" clear of the propeller shaft in the maximum bump position.
