The boss of the wheel fractured immediately before the whole of the 1250 lbs load was applied. The fracture occured in the same place, i.e. in the corner of the keyway and the bolts were badly distorted and the boss deflected from the circular.

The fracture was not at all short and could not really be considered christaline. The material did not appear to be in such good condition as in the die cast wheels.
