To HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} S E C R E T. EAC.11. SIDE STEERING TUBE. X.9450(crossed out) XS450 On the car which we saw here on Friday last - 46-PK - the lock was seriously interfered with by the side steering tube. We are under the impression that it was not made to our instructions, and we expect that it is simply an experimental model in this case. We avoided the tube fouling the lubricator on the spring anchorage by raising the latter and connecting to the pin by a tube. This would reduce the set in the tubing and at the same time allow more lock. We should like to have BY's remarks on this point as we may have encountered some difficulties that we do not know of.
