W/S C. from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X3596 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}5/LG27.7.22. GOSHAWK - PETROL TANK. Y4266 X3596 The petrol level indicator for the Goshawk has been designed and is in production and will be fitted to the first cars. We do not consider there is the least chance of getting R.{Sir Henry Royce} to agree to the level indicators on the market which can be read from the instrument board. On the very first Goshawk, we had a reserve compartment with no level gauge and it was decided that it would be preferable to have a level gauge rather than have a reserve compartment, but to have both would be an unnecessary extravagance. We consider you should wait until you have had experience with the cars fitted with a proper level gauge before you ask for anything more. In any case, as it would mean scrapping the parts designed by Mr. Royce, we would recommend that you take this matter up directly with him. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
