Modifications for car 39-EX before its dispatch to France.

39-EX.

We propose to send this car to France as soon as it is ready. Will you please carry out the following modifications:-

(1) Modify engine unit No.14. to Swdl{Len H. Swindell}'s memo.

(2) Fit the 2nd. overdrive gearbox lo.HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Gearbox stay By/TWD.{T. W. D???Aeith}4/M.22.7.37.

(3) Brakes

(a) Fit long travel H.B. lever N.Sch.4929 without altering lever on intermediate shaft to which it is connected.

(b) Fit 1.7" centres lever to intermediate shaft RR.Sch.995, as instructed in Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale}4/R.14.4.37.

(c) Fit the fully heat treated rear drums previously instructed.

(d) Fit rubber stop on servo N.Sch.5164 (this should have gone on 32-EX. but was not ready in time - servo lever N.Sch.4950 is outstanding piece). Delete air dashpot.

(e) Reline all brakes with M.L.

(f) Front brakes standard production (with exception of lining)

(g) See that rear bell cranks are fitted with felt washers N.Sch.4778.

(4) Steering.

(a) New centre steering lever with general sections as on Ex.24715 but with arm for side steering tube straight to avoid slight foul with front brake equaliser.

(b) Side steering levers reduced to sections shown on Ex.24723/4.

(c) New pendulum lever to sizes shown on Ex.24757 but with bijur oil pipe boss at lower end as on Wraith.
