-2- Die cast steering wheel in aluminium, special anea led Load at rim of steering wheel. | Deflection measured at circumference of rims. --------------------------------|----------------------------------------------- 250 lbs. | .04" 500 " | .14" 750 " | .47" 1000 " | fracture. The wheel failed just before the whole of the thousand lbs was applied, and the fracture occured through the boss of the wheel in the corner of the keyway. The fracture was close grained but rather short. The bolts clipping the split boss together were badly bent. There was very little distortion of the rim but the boss was considerably out of the round. (contd) | ||
