To Mess. from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/HH. c. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c. Hives. c. W. c. Er. [Handwritten]: 3 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/HH.2/SW.24.9.40. 40 m/m Gun - Type BD.{Mr Berend} Tools & Equipment - Section 1290. Layout of Toolbox Trays to QPL.138. As requested, we have made a drawing (QPL.138) showing a layout of the tools and equipment quoted on LOP.Q.1718 (incorporated with modifications stated below) in a suitable order for fitting into a toolbox, together with accommodation for a box to hold the first [strikethrough] spares provided by Ve/HGF. We have arranged for the air bottle, pressure gauge, oil can, 1/2 gall recoil fluid can, an approximated length of hose for the air bottle, and the spares box to lie on the floor of the box. The tools are accommodated on a separate tray. We are handing to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/CTS{C. Trot Salt - Carburation}, blueprints of QPL.138 to enable him to get the Pattern shop moving on a suitable box for the first 3 guns. Will Ve. please note we have made a few departures from the list of parts quoted on Q.1718, as discussed with Ve/MP. Where possible, double ended Jaw spanners have been catered for, as follows :- F.9881 3 BA & 1" Jaw spanners - replaces F.51961 & F.51964 F.61016 5/16" & 3/8" " " - " F.51933 & F.51934 F.61015 7/16" & 1/2" " " - " F.51935 & F.51936 We have also utilised a standard 5" screw driver instead of the 6" screw driver F.61527. Ve/MP has asked for a larger capacity oil can than the Kays No.81. This, we have attained by using a Joseph Lucas No.40 Oiler. (continued) | ||
