To EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to CJ. X4228 E3/M20.4.22. GOSHAWK 11. CARBURETTER. X.4228. X276F We send you herewith a copy of a memo. E2/M13.4.22.) dealing with the Goshawk 11. carburetter, also a blue print of drawing LeC.1552, referred to therein. This was got out in accordance with Mr. Royce's instructions that the 40/50 carburetter proportions should be reduced in size to suit the Goshawk, and then compared with the carburetters we are testing. The reduction is based on the 40/50 developing 85 HP. as against the Goshawk 11. engine developing 55 HP. The calculations seem to show that we ought to make the low speed throat smaller, and the high speed throat larger on Goshawk 11. carburetter.
