COMPLAINTS OF VIBRATIONS ON 40/50 CHASSIS. X634

Acting on your instructions, I stayed in London and tried several cars. It will be remembered that at the Conference BJ. stated that the open car 107-MG had been tested by him after returning from the Riveria and he considered it was quite unsuitable for demonstration runs owing to the vibrations - further - that the car had been sent to Cricklewood and that when it was returned, it was found to be quite satisfactory and suitable for demonstration runs. I mentioned to Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} in the Show Rooms that I was going to try 107-MG as a car which had at one time been unfit for trial runs, but since receiving attention at Cricklewood was now entirely satisfactory. Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} said that he had used this car on the previous day for a trial run and was emphatically of the opinion that the car was not fit for trial runs - I therefore asked him if he would come out with me on the car in order to show me his complaints. One complaint he pointed out was a hum from the engine which I admit existed - he also complained of vibration. Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} complained of the vibration even when the car was running with very little throttle opening. I could not agree that there was any vibration which we could hope to cure under those conditions. I then drove the car (107-MG) to Cricklewood in order to find out what had actually been done to the car there, in order to improve it. Br.{T. E.
