to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} copy to EF. H.S. X8992 EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1.21/7/25. S E C R E T E.A.C. RE CAR FOR MR ROYCE, CHASSIS 7/EX. We thank you for your Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}3/LG/7.7.25. re the above car and tender the following information. The Administration have now virtually agreed that we send the coachbuilders the chassis for this car provided that it is in every way a standard New PhantomCodename for PHANTOM I in outward appearance, save for the higher and wider bonnet and dash and the sub-frame brackets. We therefore suggest that after the chassis has been down here again for Mr Royce's approval you should make the following changes :- (1) Remove the petrol tank and replace by a std. one. (2) Remove the luggage carrier. It will not matter about the frame extensions shewing. (3) Fit only the wing stays, the dipping lamps being fitted later on at Derby. (4) The special side levers should be fitted but removed as soon as the chassis gets to Barkers. (We have done this to 9 PK. at Sales request.) (5) Send only the frame for the special instrument patch as that is all that will be needed, except the switch. We do not propose to fit our special design of instrument lamp to this car. If this is done we believe that we shall have satisfied the requirements of the Administration. Replying to the points which you raise we would state the following, | ||
