-2- VAL/AD/20.10.37. CONNECTING ROD BEARINGS - The connecting rod bearings have covered a mileage 44,115 Kms. The surface of all the bearings is in a good condition, with the exception of N° 2, which shows signs of having overheated. An extra and opposite hole was drilled in the Main Journal of the crankshaft when we last dismantled the engine. We are drilling an extra and opposite hole of .125" dia. in the crankpins. We are having the main Journals of the crankshaft ground to .010" u/s, and then we shall have it re-nitrided, and then fit a set of A.C.2. Main Bearings, etc... VA. VA P.N.- It is interesting to observe the small amount of ovality on N° 7 Main Journal, also the condition of its surface, and also the small amount of sinkage of Nos. 5 and 6 intermediate main bearings. | ||
