In January, 1913, you suggested that we obtained a number of valve springs from various makers, and Order Office obtained for us valve springs from the following firms. 286 Empire Co. 369 Lion Spring Co. 312 Midland Spring Co. 74 Poldi. 3/4 Skinner & Co. 313 Terry & Sons. 3/6 Turton & Sons. 280 West Bromwich Co. Of these the only set that have been tested are those of Poldi, and Mr Hives is now of the opinion that the valve spring problem has now matured to such a point that it is unnecessary to test these springs, as to test each set thoroughly it would take about four months to complete, and he thinks you would consider the time was wasted in continuing these tests.
