Specification 1256. WORKS TELEPHONE LYMINGTON 520 WORKS TELEGRAMS "WELLWORTHY" PRIVATE TELEPHONE LYMINGTON 232 MANAGING DIRECTOR'S OFFICE WELLWORTHY PISTON RINGS LTD., LYMINGTON HANTS JH/CJR. 12th April, 1939. W. A.{Mr Adams} Robotham Esq., Messrs. Rolls-Royce, Ltd., Derby. My dear Robotham, With reference to the copy of the Patent which you let me have just before the holidays, and to the discussion, I have not had an opportunity of talking over with Mr. Blackith, who does all this sort of business for us, because he has been away unfortunately with 'flu', but I am now enclosing his comments, and he has made an appointment with Mr. Hardman Brown for Tuesday morning next, in Coventry, at 11 o'clock. I wonder whether you would care to come and meet Mr. Hardman Brown with him. Quite frankly, Blackith thinks it is a very loosely worded Patent, and that the difficulty will be to re-word the patent keeping within the meaning of the original specification so as to keep the date, and he thinks it would be a great help if it would be possible for you to be at this meeting with Hardman Brown, and then between you try and cover the various points which Mr. Hardman Brown and Mr. Blackith suggest should be more tightly covered. My own view is, of course, that you will probably have to limit this to a petrol engine, because all sorts of weird and wonderful piston tops have been used for Diesel Engines, and as you keep on saying "A projection on the head" and that kind of thing, I think that will just rule you out for anything else except a petrol engine, but if you could, of course, cover the petrol engine and get a good solid patent on that, you have got something really worth having. Yours sincerely, Jhn. Howlett Patent Roslyn. - 47 Warwick Enclosure | ||
