Jig for forming Armature Windings. Further to my note of 18. 7. 14 re the above, Mr. Royce suggests that since the 51 coil armature is only to be made experimentally for the moment and only one is needed, the bare copper at the ends of the coils, which fits in the commutator slots had better be formed by hand. He is confident that LeC. 193, the 45 coil armature, will prove the better scheme. For forming the ends of the coils in this scheme Mr. Royce suggests that we modify the cam-collar "C" (Le C.189) as sketched below:- [Drawing of a jig for bending a coil] Drawing labels: CLAMPING DEVICE on JIG? Cam 'C' (Le C189) lengthened somewhat for LeC189 A B Taper 1 in 20 PLUG FOR HOLE "A" Similar hole to A corresponds with other cam surface on C and takes the plug B round which the coil is bent.
