DUNLOP RUBBER CO.,LTD. TELEGRAPHIC ADDRESS: "DUNLOPS, PHONE, BIRMINGHAM" TELEPHONE: ERDINGTON 2121 (P.B.X) EXTENSION No. YOUR REF: OUR REF: FRC/DW. 5. FORT DUNLOP ERDINGTON BIRMINGHAM Messrs.Rolls-Royce Ltd., DERBY. 24th June 1935. For the attention of Mr.Bowering. Dear Sirs, New type Jack for Bentley Chasses. Confirming our telephone conversation this morning, we think it would be advisable to use Millenite gears and pinions as these are likely to give very much better service than Malleable C.I. This, however, presents a difficulty in practice owing to the method of fastening on the handle socket. We can overcome this difficulty by putting the socket on the end of the handle and the square knob on the pinion, increasing slightly the diameter of the pinion shank. A blue print of the proposed re-arrangement is enclosed, on which we would like your comments. We also enclose a blue print of the proposed chequered base plate for your approval. The only other point that causes us concern is your request that the Jack top be plated. We raise no objections to carrying out your wishes but think it only right to point out that to do so will necessitate an extra cost of something like 1/- per Jack. The top will, in its initial form be, of course, a forging and if it is to be plated it will have to be filed and polished before plating, and the keep ring which fits immediately underneath it will have to be filed to match it exactly. -1- | ||
