TO HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} FROM R.{Sir Henry Royce} SECRET ORIGINAL E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} A.{Mr Adams} C. V9940 V9420 You have now given us a very defin-ite reason for fitting a more rigid control to the front axle so that the spring deflection with the brakes shall not affect the steering. We shall endeavour to get out a design suitable for the complete chassis. Something has already been done here to make a work-able job. In the meantime I would like you to test the possibilities of irreversible steering to see whether this would render the car safer. Naturally one would recommend that we very defin-itely increased the backward lean of the pivots to the maximum amount permissible for other reasons. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
