You inspected a carburetter recently supplied by EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} which had corroded very badly in the float chamber although the engine in question has never actually done any running. We submitted the carburetter to Mr Hall in order that he might make an analysis of the scum formed in corroding, and he now reports that the fault is simply due to electrolytic action in the composition of the alloy set up when the alloy is in contact with the water.

I have submitted to you from time to time a number of so called petrol proof enamels in order that you might test their claims. Would you kindly go carefully into the matter and if any information is available let me have it at as early a date as possible.
