(7) Speed Trials and the Sluggard Car. Contd. 87th Meeting 28th Nov.11. The Committee agreed that they would examine this during the afternoon. The Committee had inspected this car, the engine of which had failed, and they now agreed that the broken arm of the engine body should be made twice as strong, and that balance weights should be fitted to the crankshaft, providing that we are satisfied that the stress on the bolts retaining these parts is not too great. Mr Bailey should go into this question of strength and also the question of correct balance. The Committee also agreed that an extra oil supply pipe should be taken to each of the intermediate bearings, and the oil pump suction pipe should be made larger in diameter. 88th Meeting 29th Nov. 11. Re Rolls-Royce hill climb test at Brooklands. Mr Bailey had been making enquiries regarding the Daimler car, which had successfully climed the hill in question on the date of the Rolls-Royce test. He reported that he had been unable to obtain any definite information regarding the axle of the Daimler car in question.
