Y4565 TO BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} FROM DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} Copy to - HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1/M20.5.25. re. ALL-WEATHER TORPEDO FOR Mr. ROYCE. We thank you for your BY/C9/H16525. We wish to fit balloon tyres to both the front and rear wheels of this car at the outset, and have told the coachbuilders this, so that they will cater for them in both their front and rear wheel clearances. Balloon tyres will therefore be fitted as above whilst the car is on inspection in London. Since however we understand from HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} that balloons are not safe on the front wheels Mr. Royce will have the front wheels changed, and ordinary tyres fitted before the car is brought down here. In view of this we think the balloon tyres on the front wheels should be fitted without any modification to the side steering tube. Later on, should we wish to use balloon tyres on the front wheels, we will make the necessary modifications. DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} | ||
